NES has two first grade classes taught by wonderful teachers, Mrs. Martha De La Garza and Mrs. Carole Martin.
1ST GRADE NEWS!
Martha De La Garza – Mrs. De La Garza brings a wealth of experience to the classroom. She has a Bachelor of Science from Sam Houston State University (Go Kats!), but she has also attended Texas A&M and University of Southern California. Although she spent three years teaching in Houston, we’ve had the pleasure of her company in Normangee for 23 years. She is certified in elementary education (grades 1-8), gifted/talented, and English as a second language, and Mrs. De La Garza has taught kindergarten, first, second, fifth and sixth grades over the last 26 years.
Carole Martin – Mrs. Martin has served the Normangee as a first grade teacher for 29 years. Prior to that, she taught both in Houston and in Gainesville. She holds certifications in elementary education and gifted/talented. When she’s not teaching first graders, she likes to read, walk, watch movies and work in her yard. She and her husband Ken have three children, five grandchildren and another on the way. Mrs. Martin loves every opportunity she can get to spend time with her wonderful family.
