Mrs. Lee

Fifth grade is the last year students spend with us at NES before they scoot on off to Normangee Middle School. Not only do our teachers, Mr. Tim Bayless and Mrs. Marie Gumienny, work to prepare your kids for the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) tests they take in the fifth grade year, but they also help prepare them for the struggles and challenges they will experience as they become big sixth graders! The TAKS tests for this important year are in reading, math and science.

FIFTH GRADE NEWS!

Tim Bayless – Mr. Bayless teaches math and science here at NES. He has spent sixyears with us, but he brings a total of 13 years to the classroom. He has a B.A. in Photography and a Master’s in Education. All of his classroom experience is with fourth, fifth and sixth graders. Mr. Bayless is a volunteer firefighter, a Civil War re-enactor, and an avid photographer and traveler. He and his wife Linda have three children and four grandchildren. They make their home in Madisonville.

Marie Gumienny – Mrs. Gumienny has a B.S. in Library Science and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Not only has she worked as a classroom educator, but she has also served as a reference librarian, a registered family home for childcare, and an assistant principal. She and her husband Pat have been married for 39 years; they have three children and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Gumienny is a native Texan, so of course she loves spending time outdoors, but she also likes indoor activities too such as reading, crocheting, and sewing. She is a self-proclaimed “net surfer” too! A couple of times she has even found herself “surfing” the wild blue yonder as a skydiver. Wow!
